OUR STORY
1st Generation// Family-Owned
When Doria Burns was young, she had a passion for animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. As years passed she, along with her husband Bobby instead chose the entrepreneurial path and started their own businesses. Still, the itch to care for critters lingered. In 2014 the couple took the plunge and decided to become farmers.
ABOUT HOGGY DOGGY FARMS
Hoggy Doggy Farms is nestled on 51 acres of beautiful rolling land in the Peachtree community of Murphy NC. Backed up to USDA Forest Service land, the property is home to a plethora of wildlife including bear, deer, turkey, bobcats and more.
Unknown to the Burns', a piece of history was accumulated upon purchase of the land. The Peavine Railroad, established in the early 1900's which traveled from Andrews, NC to Hayesville, NC and hauled heavy items such as fertilizer, feed, grain, hay and lumber ran straight through the front portion of the property. With a little bit of imagination, evidence of the trains footprint can still be seen today.

Prior to COVID-19 the entrapenerurs owned several local businesses which allowed the farm to run as a hobby. After the closure of 2 of their 3 businesses due to the pandemic, it became necessary to make changes on the farm. To date, Hoggy Doggy Farms produces free range eggs, fresh goat milk and soap, meat rabbits, Goats and Great Pyrenees Livestock Guardians for profit. The family also butchers it's own beef and pork and grow their own vegetables.

Together with their 3 children, the family hopes to expand the farm by offering future tiny home rentals on the property where families can escape the day to day and be inspired by a more sustainable way of living.
